DTF Pressing Instructions

At DTF 2 Print, we want your transfers to look as vibrant and long-lasting on your apparel as they do on film. Proper application is the key to success. Follow these step-by-step instructions to achieve professional results.

Recommended Heat Press Settings

  • Temperature: 300–320°F (149–160°C)

  • Press Time: 10–15 seconds

  • Pressure: Medium to firm (ensure even contact)

  • Peel Method: Cold peel (allow the transfer to cool completely before peeling)

  • Final Press: 5–10 seconds with a Teflon sheet or parchment paper

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Preheat the Heat Press

Set your heat press to 300–320°F. Allow it to fully heat up before use for consistent results.

2. Prepare the Garment

  • Place your garment on the lower platen of the press.

  • Pre-press for 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles.

3. Position the Transfer

  • Place your DTF transfer film on the garment with the design facing down.

  • Make sure the sheet is flat with no folds or bubbles.

4. Press the Transfer

  • Close the press with medium to firm pressure.

  • Press for 10–15 seconds.

5. Cool & Peel

  • Remove the garment from the press and allow it to cool completely.

  • Once cool, peel the transfer film smoothly and carefully.

6. Final Press

  • Place a Teflon sheet or parchment paper over the design.

  • Repress for 5–10 seconds to lock in colors and durability.

Tips for Best Results

  • Always use a quality heat press (not a home iron) for consistent temperature and pressure.

  • Ensure your artwork is printed at 300 DPI before uploading to guarantee crisp details.

  • Press on a flat, stable surface to avoid uneven transfers.

  • For thicker fabrics like hoodies, increase pressure slightly for better adhesion.

Wash & Care Instructions

To keep your apparel looking great, follow these simple care tips:

  • Wait 24 hours before washing the garment.

  • Wash inside out on cold.

  • Avoid bleach or harsh detergents.

  • Tumble dry on low or hang dry for longer durability.

  • Do not iron directly over the transfer.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • Edges lifting? → Increase pressure or add a few more seconds on the final press.

  • Cracking after wash? → Ensure you did the final press step with a Teflon sheet.

  • Colors look dull? → Check that your press temperature is accurate and not too low.

Final Note
With the right pressing technique, your DTF transfers from DTF 2 Print will stay vibrant, flexible, and durable through countless washes and wears.
